Graduation Requirements
Attendance:  Students who have more than 20 days of absence during the school year, for any reason, will be required to attend summer school in order to be promoted to the next grade or graduate.  This includes absences earned as a result of tardies to school.
 
Academics: Students have the following academic requirements to be promoted to the next grade level or to graduate.
  • Students must earn the credits from all classes in which they are enrolled during the regular school day and school year. Any student who fails any classes will be expected to enroll in make-up classes at the next available opportunity. For the 2010 – 2011 school year, the cost for the make-up courses taken through one of the Noble Network Charter Schools will be as follows: Elective Courses that are single blocks ($140), Core Courses that are double blocks ($280).
Enrichment:  Students must earn the following number of enrichment credits taken outside the regular school schedule to be promoted to the next level or graduate. A minimum of 25 hours of class time or study time is needed for each quarter (.25) credit.  Enrichment credit for sports participation is limited to .25 enrichment credits per season and 1 total sports enrichment credit per student.
  • To be promoted to a sophomore: 0 total enrichment credit
  • To be promoted to a junior: 0.25 total enrichment credit
  • To be promoted to a senior: 0.5 total enrichment credit
  • To graduate: 1.0 total enrichment credits

Community Service:  Students must pass the community service requirement as outlined in the community service syllabus. This includes the following minimum total number of hours each year:

  • To be promoted to a sophomore: 10 total hours (5 per semester)
  • To be promoted to a junior: 20 total hours (10 per semester)
  • To be promoted to a senior: 30 total hours (15 per semester)
  • To graduate: 40 total hours (20 per semester)

Any student who does not meet the semesterly community service requirement will be required to take a make-up course for community service at a cost of $140.

Health and Fitness: Students must pass a written health test and a physical fitness test to be promoted to the next grade level and to graduate.  The fitness test is administered during the spring.  The requirements for the fitness test for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors are outlined in the student handbook. Students who do not pass the health and fitness test during the school year must take a gym class during the summer where they will prepare to pass these tests. .

Discipline: Students who do not demonstrate discipline and maturity will not be promoted to the next grade level or graduate. Any student who accumulates more than 12 detentions or more than 20 days suspension in any one year will not be promoted to the next grade or graduate.   • 0 – 12 detentions, the student may be promoted or graduate as long as he/she serves and pays for all detentions.
  • 13 – 32 detentions, the student may be promoted or graduate as long as he/she takes a discipline class to remove each detention over 12 from the student’s record. All detentions must be paid for and served. Each class will generally cost $140 and remove 5 detentions.
  • more than 32 detentions or more than 20 days of suspension, the student will not be promoted or will not graduate and must repeat the grade.
